We are looking to recruit passionate Support Workers to join our dedicated team in Worksop and the surrounding areas. Do you want to make a positive difference to people’s lives? As a Support Worker, flexibility is key as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts. You should have the ability to work flexibly across weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays, with shifts spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings, sleep-ins, and waking nights. Your flexibility is essential for us to meet the needs of the people we support.

The role of a Support Worker can be challenging at times, so it is essential to have a positive mindset with a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. You will need to be quick-thinking and have a positive can-do attitude.

What does a Support Worker do?

  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments, and cooking delicious healthy meals.
  • Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
  • Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day, which may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering, and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.

A driving license is essential for this role. Unfortunately, we will not be able to proceed with candidates who do not have a driving license. All our services are 24-hour care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!

Days: Between 07:00-22:00. There is also a non-contractual sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £63.70.

Please note: This position does not meet the minimum salary requirements for a Health and Care visa under the UK Skilled Worker route, as set by the Home Office. Therefore, although Mencap is a licensed sponsor, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK, as we are not able to support new visa applications or sponsorship requests for this vacancy.

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references. You will receive 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time) and a variety of benefits including pension and holiday buying options. Ongoing training and development opportunities are available to enhance your skills.
