Mencap is seeking passionate Relief Support Workers to join our incredible team in Rawtenstall. This is for a 4 month contract. 2x 30 hours positions.
As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities.
You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
This role is to support 2 gentlemen with moderate learning disabilities, 1 of who has Parkinson's Disease.
Due to the progression of the Parkinson's Disease, moving and handling is required, which includes pushing a wheelchair and using a hoist.
Both gentlemen require full support with medication, finances, and some support with personal care.
The role will include maintaining their home, tasks such as cleaning and laundry, as well as meal planning and preparation, including support to do the weekly food shop and health and medical appointments.
Full support is required for the gentlemen to access the community and access activities which they enjoy.
Examples of these are going to church, out for meals, to meet with family, bowling, local art galleries and museums, cinema, theatre, days out, and to attend social gatherings.
A driver who is able to drive an automatic & manual car is preffered for this role.
