Are you passionate about health and wellbeing?Do you want to help us improve health and wellbeing for people with a learning disability?

We are recruiting for a new Healthier Me Champion to join our exciting new Healthier Me programme at Mencap.

The Healthier Me programme wants to improve health and wellbeing for and with people with a learning disability.

As a Healthier Me Champion you will work in your local area with your manager, the Healthier Me Coach. You might be asked to do some work at home.

This is a job opportunity for a person with a learning disability.

This job is for 16 hours per month.

Please note that your working days may vary, and thework hoursmaychangefrom week to week.

Some weeks you will work more hours, and others you will work less.

Your manager will plan your working days and hours with you in advance.

This role is a part-time fixed term contract until end of October 2027.

The hourly pay rate is £12.71.

What You Will Do

  • Encourage people with a learning disability tobemore healthy.
  • Work towards your own health goal and share your journey.
  • Help people with a learning disability and their support staff understand more about eating healthy food, being active, and mental health.
  • Helplocal groups to become moreaccessible for people with a learning disability.
  • Meet people and talk about the Healthier Me work.
  • Help your manager-the Healthier Me Coach-torun training sessions and meetings.
  • Join online meetings with other Healthier Me Championsaround the UKto share your ideas and experiencesand listen to others.
  • Be Positive, Kind, Inclusive, Brave and Passionate in everything you do.
