Mencap is seeking passionate Female Support Workers to join our team in Peterborough and surrounding areas. The role involves working with individuals with learning disabilities, supporting daily activities, emotional support, and encouraging independent living.
About the Service
We support 18 individuals weekly: 5 receive 24‑hour support at home, and 13 receive domiciliary support and community visits. Typical activities include shopping, medication management, budgeting, social inclusion and recreational outings. Driving with Business Insurance is desirable for community access.
Responsibilities
- Support people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking healthy meals.
- Relationship building – promote understanding and positive relationships.
- Community & social inclusion – support participation in local events and skill development.
- Personal care – assistance with medication, bathing, showering and bathroom use; high‑level care not required for all roles.
What We're Looking For

Eligibility
*Due to the nature of this service, we are looking for female only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1. Applicants must be able to drive a mobility car.
Salary £25,577 per annum, pro rata + excellent benefits. £24,402 per annum, pro‑rate + excellent benefits.
