Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people and their families with a learning disability? We are looking for a dedicated Family Support Co-ordinator to work across our Children’s Centre, Preschool, and within the community.

Mencap\’s family support and early years provision offers a programme of play, care, education, and support for children and their families aged 0-7 years with significant developmental delay or learning disability.

This is a full-time fixed-term role until the end of March 2026. An enhanced Access NI and BHSCT checks are mandatory for this position.

The Family Support Co-ordinator will plan, develop, deliver, and coordinate a family support programme offering a range of support to families in the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust area and more broadly in Northern Ireland.

Supporting families with a child aged 0-7 with significant developmental delay or learning disability (SDD) to:

  • Come together, virtually or in person, to share learning and build mutual support networks
  • Access information and learning resources
  • Develop practical skills to support their child’s development and growth
  • Build emotional resilience and wellbeing
  • Identify and advocate for resources and services to improve their lives and those of their children

Do you have the skills and experience to be a Family Support Co-ordinator at Mencap?

  • Ideally, you will have a relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent in early years, community development, family support, or youth and community work
  • Experience working in a community-based role with families
  • Experience providing a family support programme to families with a child aged 0-7 years
  • Passion and commitment to offering the best start in life to children with a learning disability and their families
