Mencap is seeking passionate, part time Support Workers to join our incredible team in Thorne.
As a Support Worker, you will support people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs and communication difficulties.
You will provide personal care, medication assistance, financial support, and help with daily activities to enable them to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily activities and personal care.
- Support medication administration and routine health checks.
- Help with finances, budgeting and other practical tasks.
- Provide emotional and physical support to promote wellbeing.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with people you support.
Qualifications and Skills
- Relationship building – trust development and open communication.
- Patience and understanding, especially during challenging situations.
- Conflict‑resolution techniques to manage and resolve conflicts constructively.
- A genuine passion for supporting others and a positive, empathetic attitude.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to interact with people with learning disabilities.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Contract & Working Hours
- Contract: 20 hours per week.
- Shift times: 07:00–22:00. Must be flexible to cover sleep‑ins when required and weekends on a rota basis.
- Pay: £64.20 per sleep‑in.
All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
