An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join RM Medicines as a Pharmacist. The successful candidate will be integral to providing leadership and direction to the pharmacy team with an aim of providing a high-quality outpatient pharmacy service to patients at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. RM Medicines is a wholly owned subsidiary, created by The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust to provide outpatient pharmacy services, focused on ensuring efficient and safe supply of medicines to patients.
Individuals recruited to the RM Medicines team will be supported to provide expert care to oncology patients and will benefit from training and the learning experiences of working closely with an institute providing outstanding, leading-edge treatment to cancer patients. This post would suit a candidate with community pharmacy experience wishing to make a change into the hospital environment, for which appropriate training will be provided. We are looking for a part-time colleague (15 to 22.5 hours/week).
Main duties of the job:- Lead the efficient and effective delivery of a high-quality outpatient pharmacy service, ensuring professionalism and compliance with GPhC standards and relevant legislation.
- Screen, dispense and check prescriptions in accordance with local and national policies, procedures and guidelines, referring any prescribing queries appropriately for confirmation or revision.
- Oversee activity across all dispensary workflows and ensure work is completed in a timely manner in line with pharmacy Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Implement clinical policies, procedures and prescribing guidelines under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager.
- Participate in audits, error investigations, and implement service improvements.
- Work collaboratively with the Pharmacy Manager and deputise when required.
- Act as Responsible Pharmacist in line with GPhC regulations.
- Contribute to the management and administration of the business.

Act as a role model for other Pharmacists and pharmacy staff, in line with the values of RM Medicines. To provide clinical and professional leadership and advice to all pharmacy staff working for RM Medicines. To screen, dispense and check prescriptions in accordance with local and national policies, procedures and guidelines, referring any prescribing queries appropriately for confirmation or revision. To implement clinical policies, procedures and prescribing guidelines under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager. To be aware of particular nature of ordering, storage and supply of high cost drugs. To ensure all activity undertaken is consistent with maintaining registration of the premises with GPhC as necessary. To ensure the 'Medicines (Pharmacies) (Responsible Pharmacist) Regulations' 2008 are adhered to at all times and the 'Pharmacy Record' is maintained at all times. To contribute to ensuring that upātoādate Standard Operating Procedures are in place and adhered to as required. To work with the wider multi-disciplinary team to enhance and develop the Outpatient Pharmacy service that patients receive, and to continually review pathways to optimise care. To participate in the development of the strategic planning processes for the Outpatient Pharmacy, implementing and monitoring action plans as appropriate. To identify opportunities to improve the Pharmacy environment to drive efficiency and patient safety. To provide professional advice and support to all staff working within the Outpatients Pharmacy, Trust staff and patients to ensure legal and professional pharmaceutical requirements are adhered to. To manage relevant pharmacy staff and contribute to appropriate processes for assessing competency of pharmacy staff and appraisal system resulting in the formulation of appropriate training plans for pharmacy staff. To contribute to the development and effective induction of pharmacy staff. To ensure all disciplinary matters are fairly, promptly and professionally handled including appropriate accurate record keeping.
Person specification:Education/Qualifications: Qualified and registered pharmacist with GPhC.
Experience: Previous work experience in a Pharmacy setting as a qualified pharmacist. Previous experience working in an Outpatient Pharmacy setting. Experience of managing services and people. Experience of management of change processes and implementation of service development projects. Experience of working effectively within multidisciplinary groups.
Skills Abilities/knowledge: Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Good organisational & time management skills and ability to prioritise effectively. Ability to work well under pressure. Good communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal). Quality āorientated; strives for continuous improvement.
