The predicted salary is between 76582 - 104964 £ per year.
This is a substantive six-month fellowship post, extendable to 12 months subject to satisfactory internal review, open to all post-fellowship anaesthetic specialist registrars who wish to develop a further interest in critical care medicine in a specialist cancer hospital. The trainee would expect to deliver resident on call 24 to 48 hour shifts on our Sutton site with further day time sessions at the Fulham Road site Critical Care Unit or anaesthesia sessions based on the requirements of the successful candidate. The resident on call commitment covers the three bedded Critical Care Unit on our Sutton site, as well as providing leadership and support to the Critical Care Outreach Service. The weekend on call commitment is 1 in 6 weekends. Weekday on call is on average one night per week with the commensurate time off post on call.

Person specification
- Full registration and licence to practice with the GMC
- MBBS/MB BCh or approved overseas equivalent
- Advanced Life Support EPALS / APLS
- FRCA or equivalent
- BSc/BA Hons, Distinctions, Prizes at Undergrad or Postgrad Level
Experience
- Minimum 12 months experience working in the NHS
- Minimum 12 months experience working in Intensive Care Medicine
- Paediatric experience
- At least ST6/7+ level or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of anaesthesia practice
Skills
- Clinical ability to deliver a safe anaesthetic service including paediatrics
- Knowledge of intensive care medicine
- Knowledge of postoperative pain management
- Competent in pre-operative, post-operative care and ongoing management of patients
- Ability to intubate, insert peripheral lines, arterial lines, central lines, epidurals and spinals independently
Technical Skills
- Clinical ability to deliver a safe anaesthetic service including paediatrics

Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease. The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
