This post is particularly suitable for applicants who are post-CCT (Certification of Completion of Training) or are post-training surgeons working at or approaching consultant level. Applications are welcome from both national and international candidates.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would be able to gain significant experience in the breadth of major upper GI surgical oncology with a focus on oesophageal and gastric cancer surgical resection. Operative exposure includes radical open, laparoscopic and robotic approaches to cancer resectional surgery. Established JAG accreditation for diagnostic upper GI endoscopy is desirable in the post holder. The postholder will undertake outpatient clinics both for new and follow-up surgical oncology patients, face to face and virtually. The postholder will become a key member in the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), coordinating and presenting in the upper GI cancer MDT and the Peri-operative SUMMIT MDT. This provides an excellent opportunity to engage and learn about the peri-operative pathway at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
