Applications are invited for the post of Radiology Research Fellow based in the Department of Radiology. The Drug Development Unit, a designated Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, is widely regarded as the worldwide leader in phase I clinical trials. We have our own dedicated in-patient and daycare (and some outpatient facilities) unit, Oak Ward, within the Royal Marsden.

The post-holder should hold a primary medical degree (M.B., B.S or equivalent) and be currently undertaking training in Diagnostic Radiology.

This is a good opportunity for a research-focused training in functional imaging and imaging research methods. The post-holder will learn about Functional Research Ultra Sound, whole body MRI, and apply image analysis tools to evaluate imaging datasets, working within a multidisciplinary environment with the Drug Development Unit and Prostate Targeted Therapy Group. The fellowship will be supervised by Dr. Nina Tunariu.

Over 50,000 patients attend The Royal Marsden each year. We provide community services across the Borough of Sutton. We have a Chemotherapy Medical Daycare Unit at Kingston Hospital.

Person specification

  • Education: Radiology training (minimum 4 years), MBBS or equivalent, Eligible for GMC registration, Holding FRCR or equivalent
  • Experience: Motivated to ensure the achievement of defined targets, IT Skills, Radiology Research Experience, Oncological Imaging Experience
  • Skills: A methodical approach, attention to detail, ability to organise work and time around a dynamic multidisciplinary team, computer literacy in Microsoft Office or equivalent, enthusiasm for research
  • Other: Ability to work as part of a team, initiative decision making ability, ability to work independently within a team environment, effective communication, committed to personal & professional development, able to be flexible to meet the needs of the role

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the utmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
