The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an outstanding finance professional to join our Finance Department as Senior Finance Business Partner – Transformation. This is a unique opportunity to lead the financial oversight, development and implementation of some of the Trust's most significant strategic and transformational programmes. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Finance – Investment and Implementation, you will provide senior financial leadership across a diverse portfolio of major business cases, transformational investments and strategic developments that support the Trust's long-term objectives.

The successful candidate will work closely with Executive Directors, senior clinicians, operational leaders and external partners to ensure major investment decisions are supported by robust financial analysis, strong governance and effective benefits realisation. Main duties of the job- The post holder is the Trust’s senior lead for transformation projects providing expert financial and implementation leadership across major transformational programmes for the delivery of the Trust’s long term strategic objectives.
- Provide expert leadership on the development and evaluation of complex business cases and high-value projects, ensuring robust financial oversight and compliance with governance frameworks.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders to drive the Trust’s financial strategy and optimise resource allocation across a diverse portfolio of highly complex multi-stranded business cases.
- Provide strategic leadership on financial aspects of transformation investment implementation, ensuring seamless alignment between the Trust wide strategy and operational delivery.
- Oversee the execution of decisions endorsed by the Trust’s Financial and Executive Committees, embedding robust governance and accountability.
- Drive benefits realisation through rigorous monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that investment outcomes deliver maximum value and support the Trust’s long-term objectives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- The post holder will be the senior financial lead for transformation investments, providing expert financial leadership to the Executive Team and steering committees shaping organisation wide strategy, resource allocation and prioritisation.
- Maintain oversight and governance to give confidence to the Trust Board, Executive Team, and senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider organisation.
- Provide senior financial leadership for the oversight, development, and submission of major and complex multi-stranded business cases that underpin the Trust’s strategic, transformational, and commercial priorities.
- Lead the full investment process from feasibility assessment and strategic fit, business case, approval and governance, implementation and benefit realisation, ensuring alignment to Trust strategy and national frameworks.
- Provide expert financial leadership and analysis to teams/project leads working on transformational and efficiency focussed opportunities.
- This includes providing financial oversight and assurance on the development of Business Cases, maintain oversight and ensure governance processes are adhered to.
- Provide senior leadership across Finance and Operations for capital investment planning, managing the capital portfolio associated with transformational and strategic priorities, ensuring accurate forecasting, strong governance, and effective utilisation of capital, including leading major capital submissions to NHSE.
- Recognised chartered accountancy qualification (CCAB), or other suitable level of education with significant qualification experience.
- Significant relevant experience at a senior management position.
- Experience at working at a strategic level, able to recognise direction and implications of policy.
- Highly developed level of interpersonal skills that enable highly complex technical issues to be explained in clear and concise terms.
- Previous staff management experience and/or able to demonstrate an understanding of good personnel practice and its application.
- Involvement in complex change management programmes within the NHS and of delivery of benefits.
- Able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of the NHS as a whole, its strategic direction and implications of policy.
- Good knowledge of the Trust, its aims, targets to be delivered, structures and activities.
- Able to interpret and communicate complex, contentious and/or highly sensitive information appropriately and effectively.
- Demonstrate sound analytical skills with the ability to deal effectively with large quantities of complex data, both financial and non-financial and producing clear and understandable recommendations from it.
- Able to persuade others at all levels, including Executive Directors and clinicians, of a particular course of action.
- Able to ensure that the finance department meets the operational needs of the Trust.
