The successful applicant will join the existing team in the Skin and Renal Units. The major commitment is at the Fulham Road branch, for which the postholder will provide leadership to the clinical service and the research team. The post holder will contribute to the work of both Chelsea and Sutton units and will attend the Friday morning Sutton clinic. The commitment will be three melanoma and renal cell carcinoma clinics per week. This will include both face to face and offering remote consultations.
Main duties of the job
- Participate in the out-of-hours medical oncology consultant on-call rota (1 in 33)
- Receive office space and secretarial support at the Fulham Road branch of the Royal Marsden
- Support junior doctors (HEE trainees and clinical fellows) with clinical and research activities; roles and educational leadership will be shared
Person specification
- Status: MBBS or approved overseas equivalent
- MRCP or approved overseas equivalent
- Full registration and license to practice with the General Medical Council
- On the Specialist Register for Medical Oncology or within six months of obtaining a certificate of completion of training (CCT) at date of interview
- Higher Degree (PhD/MD)
- Evidence of on-going professional development
Experience
- General oncology experience including renal and skin cancers
- Subspecialty experience in renal and skin cancers, including delivery of care for patients enrolled on interventional studies
- Experience in the set-up and delivery of interventional clinical trials
- Track record of translational research and leadership
- Experience of grant application and/or securing external research funding
- Established national or international collaborative research networks in skin and/or renal cancers
- Experience engaging with industry partners, including securing commercially sponsored research funding and/or collaborative agreements
