An exciting opportunity has arisen to join as a band 4 Officer in our high performing eRostering Team. Do you want to be part of a team that makes a difference by supporting managers to create the best rosters, by providing training and advice to colleagues of all levels and comprises knowledge on all major fields of Human Resources? If you are a systems/computer savvy person, quick learner with attention to detail and a ‘can do’ attitude, then this is a job for you. Previous experience of eRostering systems and/or ESR will be a plus.
Main duties of the job:
- The e-Rostering Officer will be responsible for all aspects of the eRostering system administration across the Trust. This will involve system set up for new areas, supporting existing users on electronic rostering, devising and running training sessions, and ensuring accuracy of employee data via the ESR Gateway.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
- To be responsible advisor for all HealthRoster users’ queries, to identify any issues, to be responsible for solving problems where appropriate and escalating to the eRostering Manager or Head of Workforce Planning and HR Systems as appropriate.
- In accordance with the Trust's rostering policy, meet with Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses/Managers to support eRostering implementation; capture staffing requirements in terms of numbers per shift and skills/competencies required, thereby ensuring that staff levels are appropriate and aligned to the budgeted establishments for each unit.
- To prepare training material, and to deliver HealthRoster training to senior nurses and managers of other staff groups using various media (classroom training or Teams or video sessions), including paper based and electronic methods - across the organization.
- To implement Employee Online across all wards/departments within agreed timescales as directed by Manager.
- To support the review of basic setup in Ward areas: Templates, Establishment vs. Templates, Posts, contracts, rostered hours, grades, competences. Review Rules and Global Settings and discuss use of Autoroster and Personal Patterns. Once review is completed update HealthRoster with new settings and liaise with eRostering manager about setting up the pay elements to be used regarding unsocial hours, on-call, call-out and overtime.
Person specification:
- Education/Qualifications: GCSE Mathematics A level or equivalent academic qualification. Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development.
- Experience: Experience in an office administrator role. Experience of working within an HR or eRostering team. Experience of working within a pressured environment, and able to respond to changing demands. Experience of using e-rostering.
- Skills Abilities/knowledge: Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Ability to remain calm when under pressure and cope with changing demands. Competent level MS Office skills/expert skills on Excel. Knowledge of ESR. Knowledge of Oracle Discoverer.
- Other: Demonstrates initiative and is highly motivated. Ability to work and willingness to travel to any site in which the trust operates, to meet the needs of the role and service.

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease. The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the utmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
