Applications are invited to fulfil an opportunity as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner working within the Renal pathway.

This part‑time post has become available due to a funding restructure.

The successful applicant will have experience in Uro‑Oncology or Urology and be familiar with Renal cancer pathways.

Must have completed or be undertaking training in advanced clinical practice.

Non‑medical prescribing qualification is essential.

The successful candidate will undertake nurse‑led clinics and work within a well‑established supportive multidisciplinary team.

You should have excellent interpersonal skills, be self‑motivated, prioritise workload, and work under pressure.

Must work across Sutton and Chelsea sites, with occasional visits to Cavendish Square.

Main duties of the job

The ANP uses advanced assessment and diagnostic skills in the management of patients with urological cancers, works with urology and oncology clinical nurse specialists and provides advanced clinical assessment, planning, initiating care, monitoring disease progression, managing side‑effects, facilitating transition to community care, and improving the patient journey.

  • Professorial accountability for all work and practice at an advanced autonomous level within guidelines, mandates and NMC Codes.
  • Support the patient’s key worker to ensure continuity in the patient journey, interfacing surgery, oncology and wider referral network.
  • Independently receive patient referrals using advanced knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Perform health assessments with clinical history, examination and psychological wellbeing assessment.
  • Order diagnostic tests in line with local and national guidelines.

Education/Qualifications

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • First level degree in a relevant subject.
  • Higher degree or current pursuit.
  • Oncology or Urology qualification.
  • Advanced Clinical Practice qualification.

Experience

  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of the urological system.
  • Familiarity with clinical trials and GCP awareness.
  • Recent experience troubleshooting and managing complications.
  • Proven track record of clinical examination, history taking, consent processes.
  • Experience presenting to multidisciplinary groups.
  • Leadership in innovative practice developments.
  • Understanding of current health environment and regulatory policies.
  • Audit and service evaluation experience in a clinical speciality.
  • Quality governance, audit, risk management expertise.
  • Basic knowledge of NHS legislation and infection control.
  • Research experience.

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

  • Venepuncture and/or cannulation skills.
  • Effective negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Higher level communication training.
  • Motivational leadership.
