Do you want to join the largest fleet operator in the UK? Are you a vehicle technician looking for a fresh challenge and experience working in a commercial vehicle environment? Royal Mail is recruiting Vehicle Technicians at Swindon Workshop on a permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £70k including overtime.

Salary: £39,715 per annum plus a shift allowance of £70.06 per week when working the 12:30 - 21:00 shift. A weekend supplement for Saturday attendance is applicable.

Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:30, week 2: Monday - Thursday 12:30 - 21:00, Friday 10:30 - 19:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off).

  • LCV-HGV training program. Royal Mail maintains a range of vans/trucks and trailers and we welcome applications from those willing to develop their skills. If your working background is mainly in the light vehicle sector Royal Mail will provide inhouse and external training to help develop your career in the HGV industry, including MOT inspection standards, LOLAR regulations training and vehicle diagnostics training.

The Role:

With a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, meeting the challenge of maintaining our vehicles is a real team effort. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of makes and models of vehicle, trailers and mechanical equipment operated by Royal Mail Group. As a team player who takes pride in their work, you’ll be prepared to go the extra mile to ensure the job is done effectively.

As an experienced technician you will have your own personal toolkit equipped to undertake routine maintenance and repair of light or heavy vehicles (delete as applicable). Specialist tooling and equipment will be provided for common use by everyone within the workshop.

Successful candidates must be fully qualified to at least advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or an equivalent qualification) and have proven experience of working on a wide range of vehicles (e.g., LCV/LGV). A full manual driving licence is required (LGV preferred with trailer experience).
