How to prepare for a job interview at Royal Mail

Know Your Community

As a Postperson, you'll be delivering to your local community, so it's essential to show that you understand and care about the people you'll be serving. Research the area, its demographics, and any local events or issues. This will help you connect with the interviewers and demonstrate your commitment to being a friendly face in the neighbourhood.

Show Off Your Driving Skills

Since a full UK manual driving licence is required, be prepared to discuss your driving experience. Highlight any relevant driving jobs you've had, your familiarity with the area, and your ability to navigate in various weather conditions. This will reassure them that you're ready for the physical demands of the role.

Emphasise Customer Service

This role is all about delivering great customer service, so think of examples from your past experiences where you've gone above and beyond for customers. Whether it’s resolving an issue or simply being friendly, showcasing your people skills will make you stand out as a candidate who truly cares.

Be Ready for Physical Questions

Expect questions about your ability to handle the physical aspects of the job, like walking long distances and working outdoors in all weather. Be honest about your fitness level and share any relevant experiences that demonstrate your capability to meet these demands. Showing enthusiasm for the physical nature of the job can also work in your favour!
