Overview
You will report into the Engineering Project Manager Lead and manage projects with a spend as high as £100 million. This is a senior role in the Systems Programmes strand of engineering. You will be responsible for technical contract and project management aspects of major automation programmes and change. The role is fully mobile to work from whatever site is the most suitable, often in the Gloucester Manufacturing facility, but could also be on any RM or supplier site in the UK or Northern Ireland. It is primarily based on-site, with occasional remote work depending on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Technical Contract and Project Management strand of the Design and Deployment team strategy
- Manage Engineering Technical Managers to meet RM standards and project timescales
- Manage the technical strand of a request for tender response, including technical lead for the preferred supplier adjudication process through to contract award and the development and maintenance of key technical contract documentation for the provision of automation equipment (e.g. SoW, SoR)
- Lead on the delivery of the engineering elements of specific automation equipment contracts, ensuring that the delivered system meets the contract requirements through an effective project management approach
- Be responsible for supplier management for specific automation equipment contracts
Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of automated processes, equipment & machinery
- Good knowledge of cost versus risk and change management theories to develop and deliver strategies and business models
- Experience leading large scale projects end to end
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to effectively communicate and translate technical engineering knowledge to a wide range of audiences, including senior leadership, and able to build and develop a team and its individuals
- Experience of producing technical contract documents for automation procurement
