Looking to build a hands‐on career and learn while you work? Join Royal Mail as a Construction Apprentice and help shape the buildings and sites that keep the country connected. This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding and highly technical Construction Engineering team, developing in‐house solutions for new build, property improvement and consolidation projects across the Royal Mail estate. You will work closely across Project Management, Commercial and Technical Design functions, supporting projects across the entirety of the Royal Mail estate.

As a Construction Apprentice, you'll be part of Royal Mail's in‐house Engineering team, supporting construction projects across the UK. You'll help with new buildings, site improvements and upgrades, and learn how big projects are planned and delivered.

You'll:

  • Support construction and engineering projects
  • Help with planning, meetings and working with suppliers
  • Visit sites across the UK and learn how projects run on the ground
  • Help create simple drawings and layouts for buildings and equipment
  • Support safety checks to keep people safe on site
  • Look for ways to improve designs, save money and reduce carbon

You'll work with lots of people, including engineers, project managers and contractors, and will be a customer‐facing member of the team. This apprenticeship will involve travelling and may require some overnight stays.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has (or expects to have) Grade 4 or above in English, Maths and Science
  • Enjoys learning and wants to build a long‐term career
  • Cares about health and safety
  • Is happy to travel around the UK and visit sites
  • Enjoys teamwork, problem solving and trying new ideas
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.

You'll gain valuable skills, real experience and support from experts, all while earning and learning. This role is a great start to a successful career in construction and engineering.

After you apply, we'll invite you to take a numerical and verbal reasoning test so we can see how you work with words and numbers. If you move forward, you'll be invited to complete a screening (this may be a chat or an online screening form) to learn more about you and answer any questions you have. If selected at screening, you may join a group assessment where you'll work with others on simple tasks. If successful, this will be followed by a competency‐based interview to talk about your skills and experiences. We'll guide you at every step, so you feel ready and confident.

We know a recruitment process can feel like a big commitment, so we'll keep you updated at every stage and make sure you have everything you need to succeed. Most importantly, we want you to enjoy the journey and get a real sense of what it's like to be part of our team.
