Royal Mail is undergoing one of the most significant periods of transformation in its history. As we continue to modernise our operations and strengthen our competitiveness, we are seeking an outstanding Plant Manager to lead one of our key Mail Centre operations in Tyneside. This is a senior, high-impact leadership role with full accountability for operational performance across safety, quality, cost and people.

The role:

  • Provide visible and inclusive leadership, setting the standard for health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Lead and develop the site leadership team to deliver consistently strong operational performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement across productivity, quality and cost, embedding standardised ways of working.
  • Create an engaged, aligned workforce that understands the wider business context and their role in delivering results.
  • Lead site-wide people activity, including resourcing, employee relations, talent and succession planning.
  • Build strong working relationships with trade union colleagues and key regional and national stakeholders.
  • Play an active role in delivering regional and national change and improvement initiatives.

About You:

  • You will be a credible and resilient operational leader with proven experience leading complex, high-volume operations.
  • A strong track record of delivering sustained performance improvement across people, customer and financial KPIs.
  • Excellent people leadership and communication skills, with experience managing complex employee relations.
  • A deep understanding of continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • Experience working effectively in a unionised environment.
  • Strong operational planning and problem-solving capability.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH qualifications (or willingness to achieve), with Six Sigma or CI experience desirable.
