Electrical Design Engineering Lead – National — Full time, 41 hours per week, Monday to Friday with flexibility required. This is a national role with regular travel to various sites.
Salary and benefits include: competitive salary, 4,800 car allowance or £4,300 cash equivalent, full family private healthcare, 18% annual bonus potential, and generous annual leave of 27.5 days plus bank holidays (increasing to 30 days after 10 years’ service).

At Royal Mail we’ve served communities for over 500 years and are transforming the postal delivery market globally. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineering Lead to join our Design Engineering Team and help modernise processes and deliver innovative solutions.
About the role
The Electrical Design Engineering Lead reports to the Head of Design Engineering and currently has direct line management of 1 personnel, with plans to expand. You will deliver high levels of electrical engineering competence within a team of skilled engineers, drive improvements to current processes, and introduce innovative solutions to improve business performance. This is a key leadership role in delivering the engineering vision and growing the engineering design capability.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design of in-house technical solutions
- Lead testing and implementation plans for electrical bias projects within the design engineering team
- Drive engineering design projects, innovations and solutions centrally and locally
- Identify opportunities to enhance in-house manufacturing capability to deliver key elements of engineering design projects
- Champion new processes to develop in-house capability, innovation and people
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to drive reliability in the existing automation fleet
- Inspire and energise a team of technical experts to deliver high performance
About You / Qualifications
- Experience in detailed product design and development within an automated environment
- Strong engineering background with problem-solving and solution-delivery capabilities
- Knowledge and experience with CAD/CAM software and AutoDesk/Eplan
- Ability to meet product development deadlines and quality targets
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Proven track record of delivering improvements and initiatives in challenging environments
