This role will be based in Wales region. There is an expectation you will travel regularly across your region to suit business needs and there will occasional national travel for specific meetings.
At Royal Mail we pride ourselves on delivering to our customers every day, but no two days are the same so sometimes we need help from our planning team to navigate unexpected events to ensure we still deliver to every doorstep in the country every day.
About the role
A new opportunity has arisen within the team who do just that, they help our operations manage adhoc significant events affecting our customer performance such as floods in our premises, road closures, Royal events, Commonwealth Games etc, as well as the usual, cyclical planning for events such as Christmas and General and Local Elections.
The role will lead on critical business activity and are accountable for the design, deployment, managing deadlines, monitoring compliance, whilst always reviewing what we do to make it even better next time.
You will also:
- Have senior ownership for example of Christmas Peak Operations through strong stakeholder engagement of operational teams and during deployment of Peak and other major events you will become the face of the arrangements and need to take a lead role in ensuring the plan is deployed and achieved.
- Be instrumental in the design and execution of the Peak plan and all other event operational planning across the pipeline.
- Review Christmas Parcel Sort Centres arrangements, along with all major out-housing for operational work, and the planning around those in order to balance the cost of provision while continuing to ensure the delivery of great quality of service.
- Be strongly aligned with our facilities team in order to secure operational footprint/properties as and when required.
- Drive consistency in Continuity Planning building an effective plan to ensure that our operations continue with minimal disruption during a crisis.
- Have alignment with Commercial on operational impact of product launches.
- Develop external relationships with key UK businesses such as Transport for London, local authorities, police etc that allow input to design of key infrastructure programmes that supports achievement of our operational plans.
