Head of Finance Ledgers & Assets
Royal Mail – Chesterfield, Future Walk, S49 1PF. Permanent, Full time. You will attend the office 3 days per week.
About the role
Reporting to the Deputy UK Financial Controller, you will oversee financial ledgers and asset accounting, ensuring robust controls and accurate processing. You will directly manage a team of four middle managers and play a key role in delivering timely, accurate financial reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure compliance with Group policy and statutory requirements for financial accounting and balance sheet governance.
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and year‑end financial statements.
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, Group Finance and auditors, providing independent challenge where needed.
- Safeguard the integrity of general ledgers and asset modules through effective processes and controls.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations and supporting reviews by business FDs.
About you
You’ll bring:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (including consolidations experience) and Excel skills.
- Proven management experience.
- SAP knowledge (advantageous).
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders and lead your team effectively.
