Full time permanent position at Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre, Slough, SL3 8AQ. Royal Mail International Operations based at HWDC (Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre), the UK's largest and most advanced automated hub. This hub processes worldwide imports and exports, adhering to stringent customs and aviation security standards, and connects customers with over 195 countries globally. Spanning 45,000 square metres, HWDC has the capability to manage around 1 million import/export items daily.
Role summary: To support the operation, we have a vacancy for a Night Shift Manager who is responsible for +20 managers and approximately 400 frontline staff, helping us to continue to improve and deliver the best service.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a large shift operation, overseeing +20 managers and approximately 400 frontline staff.
- Motivate the team on every shift to achieve their best and support development over time.
- Help the team meet a range of operational targets that improve service for customers and efficiency for the business.
What skills and experience we are looking for:
- Experience of successfully managing a large operation and achieving targets across scorecard measures.
- Experience of leading a large team, at a 2nd line manager level.
- Operational knowledge β expert knowledge of the letterβs operation and overall plant operation.
- Planning skills/project management β able to develop a plan, understand risks, monitor progress and deploy the plan.
- Data analysis and problem solving β ability to evaluate process performance using KPIs/metrics and identify trends.
- Stakeholder management β ability to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Strong drive, enthusiasm and resilience β strives to improve performance and energise colleagues.
- Experience of deploying major change and leading people through change.
- Safety β PIC trained and experience of safety tools and techniques.
- Commercial awareness β understands business challenges and can communicate the big picture to influence others.
Shift pattern: 22:30 β 07:00, Monday to Friday. Flexibility required to meet the needs of the unit.
