Job type: Permanent contract
Hours: 40 hours per week, working 5 days, Monday to Friday, between 08:00am and 16:00pm, flexibility will be required during mail centre safety audits.
Role Summary
This role supports the safe and compliant operation of the mail centre by ensuring health and safety standards are met, training is completed on time, and risk assessments are effectively managed. It requires strong communication skills, the ability to build positive working relationships with Safety Representatives, and confidence using Excel for tracking, reporting, and compliance monitoring. Flexibility to work different shifts is essential to support operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure the mail centre remains fully compliant with all relevant health and safety policies and procedures. Support proactive identification and resolution of hazards to maintain a safe working environment. Monitor safety behaviours and elevate concerns where required.
- Training Coordination: Ensure all mandatory training for staff and managers is completed within required deadlines. Track training progress using Excel and provide regular updates to management. Liaise with trainers, line managers, and individuals to close any training gaps.
- Risk Assessment Support: Assist with the completion, review, and updating of risk assessments. Help managers and operational teams understand and implement required control measures. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure assessments are stored and updated correctly.
- Engagement with Safety Representatives: Build strong working relationships with Safety Reps to promote a collaborative safety culture. Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and joint discussions to support continuous improvement. Share relevant updates and expedite issues raised by Safety Reps.
- Data Management & Reporting: Use Excel confidently to create logs, trackers, reports, and analysis dashboards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance data to support audits and inspections. Produce clear reports for managers on training completion, safety actions, and risk assessment status.
- Operational Flexibility: Work across different shifts when required to support training delivery, safety checks, or operational coverage. Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a busy mail centre environment.
