Join Royal Mail P&FS as a Mobile Cleaning Operative – Keep Our Sites Sparkling!
Location: Chelmsford Mail Centre, Chelmsford, CM2 5AA
Pay: £13.10 per hour.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Schedule: - 7am to 2pm - Monday to Friday 6 hours 30 minutes each day. Saturday 5 hours. Plus 5 weeks of night shift per year - 10pm to 6am - Additional £4.36 an hour when working nights. Need for flexibility to cover late or night shifts when required also occasional Sundays and overtime.

About the Role
As a Mobile Cleaning Operative, you’ll travel between multiple sites in the Chelmsford and surrounding area, covering for absences and holidays. Your responsibilities will include a range of cleaning tasks, including:
- Mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
- Cleaning toilets, floors and offices
- Emptying bins and sanitising surfaces
- Litter picking within yard and car park areas
You’ll be working independently or as part of a team, helping us maintain the high standards our customers expect. This is a physical role that involves manual handling, but don’t worry – we’ll provide all the training and support you need to succeed.
Driving Licence Required
Due to the mobile nature of this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. A work van will be provided for travel between sites.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Previous cleaning experience is helpful, but not essential.
- Friendly, reliable, and self-motivated
- Able to manage their own time and work independently
- Comfortable using cleaning equipment (training provided)
- A good communicator who follows Health & Safety guidelines
