About the Role
As an ER Case Manager, you’ll act as an independent and impartial decision‑maker, leading on a wide range of employment relations matters. You’ll investigate and conclude complex cases, represent the business in Employment Tribunal (ET) and Early Conciliation (EC) matters, and help safeguard Royal Mail’s reputation through fair, robust and legally compliant outcomes. This is a high‑impact role where your expertise will directly support our people, leaders and wider organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing a varied caseload, including dismissal appeals, complex grievance investigations and appeals, whistleblowing and senior‑level complaints, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
- Representing Royal Mail in Employment Tribunal and Early Conciliation cases, working closely with external legal providers.
- Engaging with stakeholders at all levels, providing clear and timely communication on case progress and outcomes.
- Identifying trends and delivering targeted interventions, training or improvements to enhance line manager capability and address hotspots.
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring high standards of governance, transparency and service delivery.
- Supporting wider business activity, including change programmes and organisational design initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is capable, resilient and passionate about fair and effective employee relations. You’ll bring:
- Proven experience managing complex ER casework.
- Experience with employment tribunal activity (desirable).
- Experience working with Trade Unions (desirable).
- Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, with the ability to balance risk, cost and reputational impact.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- The ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against targets.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and dispute resolution.
- Confidence working independently while collaborating with a wider team.
