We\’re on the lookout for an experienced Operations Manager to head up a team of 110+ indirect & 4 direct reports at our Medway Depot. It\’s a pretty big role: with an average of 57 delivery and collection routes running daily, you\’ll be critical to securing the success of one of our larger operations.
About the role
As our Operations Manager, the most senior manager role within the depot, you\’ll oversee the collection and delivery of upto 27,000 parcels per week, but that\’s not all. It\’ll be up to you to ensure everything runs smoothly – leading on and coordinating manpower and resource you\’ll review all key measurement outputs and identify trends in unit performance, ensuring your teams are focused on process and customer improvement at all times. By providing your frontlline managers with the coaching and mentoring they need to inspire their teams, you\’ll not only maximise operational performance; you\’ll ensure we never stop delivering to the highest levels of customer service.
Attendance pattern: 41 hours per week,working hours will vary dependant on operational requirements but typically Monday to Friday 07:00 – 15:00
About you:
We are looking for a people focused, hands on, visible leader with the following skills and experience:
Leading and developing a team of mangers to improve performance and guide through periods of change
Ability to build strong relationships with your team, unions and key stakeholders
Excellent visible leadership and communication skills demonstrated in an operational environment
Ideally with a background in express parcels and some experience working in a unionised environment.
Analytical skills – ability to interpret detailed management information
CPC qualification would be advantageous
Ability to negotiate contracts with self employed owner drivers
