Term - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

As aSeniorQuantity Surveyor at RoyalMail,you will lead commercial and costmanagement activity from feasibility to final account.You'llshape commercial strategy, support procurement decisions, manage financial performance and collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners.

Please note this is a national role with a flexible base location. You could be based from multiple locations througout the UK and hybrid working is expected. Travel and site visits form part of the role. A full UK driving licence is required.

The Role

  • Leading commercial planning,governanceand reporting across assigned projects, ensuring strong cost control from concept to completion.
  • Preparing cost plans, estimates, tender documentation, bills of quantities and commercial evaluations for a wide range of construction and engineering schemes.
  • Managing valuations, contractor applications, forecasting, cashflow and final accounts, ensuring accuracy and financial compliance.
  • Driving valueengineering and costsaving initiatives,identifyingopportunities to optimise scope, reduce lifecycle cost and support insourcing whereappropriate.
  • Providing clear commercial reporting covering costtocomplete, forecast outturns, risks,opportunitiesand supply chain performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and organisational governance, including procurement policies, auditrequirementsand relevant construction legislation (e.g., CDM 2015).
  • Managing commercial and contractual risks through robust assessments andmaintainingproject risk registers.
  • Building effective relationships with internal teams, contractors and suppliers, supportingnegotiationsand driving performance improvements.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial, financial and analytical skills, with experience managing multiple project budgets and deliveringaccuratecost plans,estimatesand valuations.
  • Solid knowledge of construction contracts (particularly JCT), commercial procedures, change control and dispute resolution.
  • Understanding of construction methods, building services, procurementroutesand market pricing, with strong negotiation capability.
  • Experience across construction,engineeringorclient-sideenvironments, ideally spanning building fabric, M&E or industrial/logisticssettings.
  • A track recordof managing commercial aspects of multiple projects of varied scale and complexity.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholderengagementand relationshipbuilding skills.
  • A proactive, solutionsdriven approach with strong attention to detail, governancedisciplineand the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external supply chain partners.

Qualifications (Desired but not essential)

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, CommercialManagementor a related discipline.
  • Member of the Royal Institutionof Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or working towardsMRICS profession accreditation.
  • CSCS card or equivalent H&S accreditation.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
