Overview

Royal Mail is driving a major value creation and cost transformation programme. This senior, embedded delivery role is based within the Value Creation Office (VCO) and will be accountable for delivering value across a defined cluster of corporate and operational functions, partnering directly with Executive Board sponsors and senior leaders.

The opportunity

As the Value Creation Delivery Lead, you will be the VCO's single point of accountability for your function cluster. You will own senior relationships, challenge constructively, improve delivery discipline, and ensure value commitments convert into measurable results. Your influence will shape priorities, resolve complexity and inform decisions at Executive and Board level.

What you'll be doing

  • Own relationships with Executive Board leads and senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted partner and confident challenger.
  • Drive delivery of complex, multi‑workstream initiatives, ensuring credible plans, strong governance and real value outcomes.
  • Coach and challenge initiative leads to raise plan quality, accountability and execution pace.
  • Identify and actively manage interdependencies, risks and blockers, escalating decisively when required.
  • Provide targeted, hands‑on SWAT support to high‑value or at‑risk initiatives to keep delivery on track.
  • Track, validate and assure financial value in close partnership with Finance, ensuring benefits are accurately baselined and realised.
  • Direct and oversee third‑party consultants and Royal Mail resources deployed within your portfolio.
  • Produce clear, robust reporting for SteerCo and programme governance forums.

What we're looking for

  • A strong track record in strategy consulting, transformation or complex programme delivery (Manager level or equivalent).
  • Experience operating simultaneously across multiple business functions and senior stakeholder groups.
  • Sharp commercial judgement and the ability to focus teams on what truly drives value.
  • Confidence, credibility and gravitas at Executive level.
  • Excellent structuring, problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Experience in cost transformation, value creation or operational improvement programmes.
  • Experience working alongside consulting firms on large‑scale transformations (desirable).
  • A degree from a leading university is required; an MBA or postgraduate qualification is advantageous but not essential.

Why join

This rare opportunity offers real accountability for delivery at enterprise scale, exposure to senior leaders and a chance to shape Royal Mail's future performance with clear ownership, pace and impact.

Benefits

  • Family friendly support – enhanced maternity pay, paternity leave, adoption leave and shared parental leave.
  • Supportive and generous company sick pay.
  • Funded dental insurance (eligible for managers).
  • Employer‑funded health assessment every two years (eligible for managers).
  • Personal benefits account on My Bundle+ platform – access to over 800 retail offers and employer‑provided benefits.
  • 24/7 wellbeing services and tools for physical, mental, financial and social support.
