The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Competitive salary, £4,800 Car allowance or £4,300 cash equivalent, plus healthcare, 18% annual bonus potential with 27.5 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days after 10 years' service and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates.

Permanent, Full time Location: This is a national working role with travel when required to Royal Mail Group sites, field visits, including regular team meetings in our London Farringdon office. The role requires flexibility in line with business needs.

About the role

  • Developing and maintaining the Health and Safety (H&S) Management System and underlying standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative and Royal Mail Group (RMG) requirements, including fire, asbestos, and water regulations.
  • Providing oversight and coaching to the 1st and 2nd line of defence teams.
  • Driving simplification and process improvement to enhance user experience and compliance.
  • Monitoring and interpreting legislative changes and ensuring standards are adapted accordingly.
  • Developing and maintaining risk assessment materials to ensure robust hazard and risk identification.
  • Reviewing and updating safe systems of work and working instructions based on risk assessments and audit findings.
  • Conducting proactive assurance and spot checks to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinating safety projects to achieve strategic goals, such as reducing risks from specific hazards.
  • Ensuring GDPR compliance in all systems and data capture processes.
  • Supporting the analysis of metrics to identify areas for improvement and focused activity.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills, experience, and industry qualifications:

  • Experience with Regulatory Authorities: Proven track record of working with regulatory bodies.
  • Senior management experience: Demonstrated experience in a senior management role within a large complex organisation.
  • Health and safety management: Strong background in H&S management, including system design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of H&S legislation: Exceptional understanding of H&S management systems and legislation.
  • Risk management: Extensive experience with risk management systems.

Qualifications:

  • Level 6 Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma or holder of NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
  • Certified member of IOSH or equivalent related professional body.
