We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Gas Engineer covering the East of England. Job reference number 338784.
Salary - £44,551.95 per annum plus standby allowance £290 per week, when on rota, and appropriate overtime rate when attending the call.
22.5 days annual leave, rising to 25 after 5 years' service plus bank holidays.
Contract: Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) – typical attendance 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday, however flexibility is essential.
You will cover postcode areas (PE) Peterborough, (CB) Cambridge and (SG) Stevenage. You’ll be required to join an out of hours callout rota 1 in 4 weeks covering a wider area in PE and CB postcodes only. Flexibility is key—you’ll be working across multiple sites within a defined area, and a company vehicle will be provided to support your travel.
Your excellent communication skills will help you build strong relationships with both customers and managers, keeping everyone informed and aligned. Strong organisational skills will also be essential to manage your workload effectively and ensure smooth project delivery.
The RoleAs a Mobile Gas Engineer you’ll provide technical diagnosis and solutions, performing routine maintenance checks in relation to Gas and Hot & Cold Water systems along with some electrical maintenance. You’ll perform fault finding, maintenance, repair and installation of these systems and will regularly liaise with customers. You will carry out basic plumbing tasks, including replacing taps, sinks, cistern flush units and heating elements.
About You- Must hold both Domestic and Commercial gas qualification/certification either CCN1 or CODNCO1 and must be a Gas Safe registered Gas engineer.
- Qualified and accredited by Gas Safe in commercial gas modules to include CIGA1, CORT1, CENWAT and TPCP1A.
- Basic Plumbing experience.
- Experience maintaining gas equipment/pipe work and hot and cold water systems.
- Fault‑finding and diagnostic experience with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Strong understanding of health & safety and Gas Safe regulations.
- 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations.
- Basic IT literacy and confident using digital job management systems.
- Experience of completing job certificates in an electronic format.
- Full UK manual Driving Licence required, as this vacancy will involve travel within a specified area for which a van will be provided.
- Demonstrable experience of liaising with customers.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
