RMG is strengthening its cyber capability and looking for an experienced Cyber Security Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping, guiding, and safeguarding the organisation's technology landscape. This is a senior, influential position at the heart of our Cyber Portfolio and Architecture function - ideal for someone who thrives on balancing strategic vision with pragmatic, real world delivery. If you're motivated by solving complex security challenges, influencing senior stakeholders, and designing security that enables the business rather than constrains it, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact.
About the Role
As a Cyber Security Architect, you will be responsible for ensuring RMG's technology, platforms, and information systems are designed, procured, and operated securely aligned to business risk appetite and budget realities. You'll act as a trusted advisor and senior broker between Group Technology teams, business units, Security Operations, and Cyber Governance, Risk & Controls. This role demands someone who can translate complex technical issues into meaningful business context, challenge assumptions, and guide teams toward acceptable security outcomes - not theoretical perfection.
What You'll Be Doing
- Strategic Leadership: Shape and support the delivery of RMG's Cybersecurity strategy. Contribute to the development and rollout of security architecture blueprints and technical standards across RMG and partner organisations. Ensure risks are managed in line with Board level risk appetite.
- Stakeholder Influence: Engage confidently with mid and senior level stakeholders across Technology and the business. Communicate complex security issues in clear, accessible language. Encourage deeper thinking around risk, impact, and business priorities.
- Pragmatic Security Guidance: Provide timely, accurate, and business aligned security advice across change and BAU programmes. Support the Architecture Concurrence Process to embed security principles early and effectively.
- Security Architecture Delivery: Integrate security into software development, infrastructure, platforms, and cloud adoption. Lead threat modelling and security impact assessments. Define risk based security requirements and ensure alignment with RMG's Security Architecture.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Track emerging technologies, standards, and patterns - piloting and adopting where appropriate. Contribute to the maturity and effectiveness of RMG's security architecture and controls. Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Commercial & Business Awareness: Understand RMG's revenue generating operations and how technology enables them. Ensure security supports business goals and enhances user experience. Navigate competing priorities with judgement, resilience, and commercial empathy.
What You'll Bring
- Core Competencies: Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels. Excellent analytical capability - able to see the big picture and cut through complexity. Clear, adaptable communication skills across written, verbal, and presentation formats. Ability to challenge constructively and overcome resistance to change. Deep technical credibility across security architecture domains, including: Server, Desktop, Network, Storage Operating Systems, Databases, Virtualisation and Cloud technologies.
- Experience & Expertise: Expert knowledge of cybersecurity architecture practices, principles, and methodologies. Proven experience delivering security architecture across diverse technologies. Ability to operate at senior technology level while ensuring tactical work aligns to strategic goals. Commercial experience across product selection, vendor management, and contract negotiation. Comfort working with complexity, ambiguity, and competing agendas.
- Qualifications: Degree level education or equivalent experience in Technology or Cyber Security. Relevant security architecture certifications (e.g., SABSA, TOGAF, CISSP ISSAP). Additional security operations certifications (e.g., CISM, CRISC, SANS, CISSP, GIAC) are advantageous.
Extra Benefits: Family friendly support - enhanced maternity pay, paternity leave, adoption leave and shared parental leave. Discounts and offers - there are more than 800 offers to help you save on things like groceries, days out, holidays and your household bills. Supportive and generous company sick pay. Your Wellbeing - you and your family have 24/7 access to services and tools to help you get the most out of life. From your physical and mental health to financial and social support and advice. It's free, and it's for everyone.
