Location: Northern Ireland Mail Centre, Enterprise Way, Newtownabbey, BT36 4HQ (involving travel across various Royal Mail sites)

Salary: £15,199 - £22,591 (depending on age)

Hours/Shifts: 37.5 hours per week - shifts will be aligned to a mentor when starting

Duration: 3-4 years

Qualification: Electronic Fire & Security Systems (Apprenticeship) Level 3

What You Will Do

  • Work with skilled engineers and learn how to:
    • Help install and fix fire alarms, burglar alarms, CCTV cameras, and door entry systems
    • Check systems to make sure they are working well
    • Find simple problems and help fix them
    • Follow safety rules at all times
    • Travel to different Royal Mail sites
    • Write simple reports on a tablet or computer

Learn While You Work

  • Work towards a Level 3 apprenticeship
  • Learn on the job and in training
  • Build skills in electrical systems, safety rules, and problem solving
  • Get help from friendly experts and mentors

You’ll Need

  • Maths and English at Level 4 (or ability to achieve this during the apprenticeship)

  • Basic computer skills
  • Willing to travel for work
  • A driving licence (or happy to get one)

Where You Will Work

  • Royal Mail sites like Mail Centres and Delivery Offices
  • Inside and outside
  • Travel between sites
  • Sometimes early starts or flexible hours

Your Future

  • When you finish, you could become a Fire & Security Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or a specialist in safety or technical systems.
