We have a brand-new opportunity for an Alternate Real Estate Accountant to join us at Royal London Asset Management on a permanent basis.
Due to our expansion in alternative real estate, plus further plans for 2025, we’re seeking an experienced individual to lead on annual reporting and financial statement preparation. This role will give you the opportunity to interact with various stakeholders of the business, including our senior leadership team, requiring strong communication skills and confidence.
Additionally, you’ll play a key part in supporting various project work contributing to the broader success of the department and business.
About the role
- Provide oversight of outsourced fund accounting activities in relation to alternative real estate funds (e.g. Healthcare, Residential, Natural Capital) at the third party administrators, including annual due diligence review.
- Review and sign off quarterly management and financial accounts for alternative real estate funds.
- Monitor all major transactions by the Property Manager and Asset Manager.
- Responsible for fund audits, reports, and accounts including attendance at board meetings.
- Support the setup and development of the alternative real estate business through new investment structures like JPUTs, Limited Partnerships, Private REITs, SPVs, and future JVs.
- Act as the key senior point of contact for operational fund accounting issues raised by Royal London or other clients in relation to alternative property investment structures/vehicles.
About you
- Strong real estate fund accounting experience gained either at an asset manager or in a real estate environment.
- Financial reporting experience.
- Experience in accounting for various property structures such as joint ventures, REITs, and limited partnerships is essential.
- Systems knowledge such as Yardi, advanced in Excel and Word.
- UK GAAP and IFRS experience.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in overseeing third parties.
- Strong technical skills in regulated funds.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
