The role involves reporting to the Technical Sales Manager and providing knowledge, guidance, and leadership during the bid and project execution phases. The R&D Engineer ensures that the product meets market and client demands, allowing IHC to offer high-quality products and solutions at competitive prices.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the applicable business plan, markets, and product users, specifically in Energy, Defence, and Telecoms, as well as a critical awareness of project, product, and service requirements.
You will be responsible for:
- Defining and managing the RIHC product and service range, ensuring it meets user/client and market requirements and trends.
- Providing technical expertise and input to the user/client during the business development and bid stages, ensuring that the IHC proposal/technical solution has technical merit and aligns with client requirements.
- Developing technical proposals and detailed costing sheets (UPRR).
- During project execution, providing product/market intelligence and guidance to the project delivery team, ensuring that the product meets specifications, is safe, manufacturable, and delivered on time and within budget.
Job requirements:
- Educated to an Engineering degree level or equivalent.
- Specialist knowledge and experience in a multi-disciplinary design environment.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in the design, manufacture, and commissioning of Sub Sea Vehicles, Cable lay equipment, Pipe lay equipment, LARS, and bespoke onshore and offshore handling equipment.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies (e.g., materials, hydraulics) and engineering design techniques (e.g., FEA, design codes, International standards).
- Ability to provide technical guidance to the project engineering team, ensuring engineers have clear project deliverables and that all hours expended on the project add value.
- Ability to provide technical expertise/guidance during the assembly, commissioning, and installation phases of the project.
