The role: Are you an experienced Hydraulic Design Engineer ready to take on complex engineering challenges and help shape innovative offshore and marine solutions? We’re looking for a motivated engineer who can develop high‑quality technical designs, support and guide colleagues, and occasionally lead small work‑package teams. In this role, you’ll contribute to critical engineering activities, from producing detailed calculations to presenting design concepts, while ensuring safety, quality, and technical excellence at every stage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working under the guidance of the Senior Engineer, occasionally assuming technical disciplinary leadership on work package/ sub modules or design activities
- Providing technical guidance and coaching to others
- Accountability for quality, safety and fitness for purpose of design work undertaken
- Ensure ownership of issues and resolution for all work undertaken by self and team
- Producing hand calculations and detailed analysis as necessary to demonstrate fitness for purpose of all designs undertaken
- Produce estimates, plans, reports and supportive calculations
- Identify risks and develop mitigation plans and review with Senior Engineer
- Presenting technical proposals and designs at concept and detailed design reviews
Requirements:
- Familiarisation and efficient use of design tools (Autocad, Inventor, Hydroman, Hydrosym etc)
- Be familiar with hydraulic Design Practices/Templates/Guidelines and Standards
- Contribute to hydraulic design practices/guidelines and company standards
- Produce design templates
- Be familiar and follow company Quality & HSE processes and protocols
- Provide engineering support and technical guidance to other company functions as required
- Engage in technical discussions with suppliers
- Have proven experience as a Hydraulic Design Engineer, preferably in the marine/Offshore Engineering sector
- Experience in the use of Teamcenter PLM would be advantageous
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Subsea technologies and/or cable lay equipment is desirable
- As a minimum, educated to an Engineering Degree level (B Eng, BSc or M Eng)
- Member of recognised Engineering body (e.g. IMechE) or working towards this
