Join Royal IHC’s specialist team at the Port of Blyth and play a key role in delivering world‐class offshore and subsea equipment. We’re looking for an Electrical Commissioning & Test Engineer to support our Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer and help ensure every Royal IHC product is delivered to the highest standards.
In this hands-on role, you’ll be involved in the physical commissioning and testing of bespoke equipment—verifying that systems function correctly, meet customer expectations, and are ready for safe and effective operation. You’ll produce essential documentation and reports while working closely with both the Commissioning Team and the Construction Department, from the early stages of commissioning through to the completion of sea trials.

You will be responsible for:- Assisting the Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer with all Electrical aspects of commissioning.
- Assisting with the implementation of the commissioning plan.
- Assisting with the resolution of Electrical issues that may arise during the commissioning of equipment.
- Following the Electrical aspect LOTO procedures.
- Recording customer feedback on equipment performance and using this information to improve Royal IHC performance going forward.
- Ensuring all tasks are completed to Royal IHC, client and site safety management systems standards.
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships between Royal IHC and client/site/supplier representatives.
- Participating in knowledge sharing activities, to ensure the progression and development of all team members.
- Participating in training and development programs as required.
- Ensuring the safe testing and commissioning of completed installations to achieve the necessary equipment performance in accordance with project schedule requirements.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer.
- Time served electrical engineering background.
- Basic Hydraulic/Mechanical knowledge would be an advantage.
- Be able to read and understand Electrical schematics/drawings to a basic standard.
- Be competent in the use of all Microsoft Office products.
- Good communication skills.
- To be able to work away from home for extended periods of time (in general no more than 8 weeks unless mutually agreed).
- Be able to fault find and suggest temporary/permanent solutions on site.
- Understand the risks when working with electrical systems connected to high pressure, complex hydraulic machines.
- Have an understanding of how the Electrical system integrates with the hydraulic/mechanical, and software aspects of the system.
- Understanding of Permit to work Procedures.
- Ability to work safely at heights.
- Powered access licenses preferable.
This role requires both national and international travel and will involve periods of working away from home.
