This role offers the opportunity to work with a high degree of professional autonomy within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, contributing to high‑quality, people‑focused transport planning projects as part of the ITP Advisory Group at Haskoning.
At Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, “Enhancing Society Together,” drives us to create a positive impact on the world. We offer purpose-driven and challenging work on diverse projects, leveraging our 140+ years of expertise. With over 6,800 employees in more than 25 countries, we work together to turn challenges into opportunities and make a real impact on society.
As a member of the Integrated Transport Planning (ITP) team within Haskoning, you will work alongside skilled professionals united by a shared passion for vision‑led transport planning, designing sustainable mobility solutions that meet people’s needs and help shape places that reflect the unique character of their local context.
What you will do as a Senior Consultant:
- Take a proactive approach to your work, applying your experience in any of the following technical areas within a consultancy or client environment:
- Designing and delivering active and sustainable places by applying vision-led transport planning and placemaking principles.
- Identifying the need for change in public transport networks and producing solutions that are deliverable, affordable and sustainable.
- Developing and refining transport policies and strategies for UK public sector clients.
- Preparing evidence-based business cases for sustainable transport schemes.
- Using transport modelling in a proportionate and pragmatic way - balancing future travel forecasts with real-world user needs.
- Providing expert input into planning applications, underpinned by a deep knowledge of planning legislation and sustainable development practices.
- Delivering major infrastructure consent and subsequent compliance requirements.
- Managing your own workload across multiple projects, taking responsibility for delivering high‑quality, client‑ready outputs to agreed timescales.
The role requires strong analytical and report‑writing skills, confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders, and the ambition to take on increasing responsibility as part of a supportive project team.
What we expect from you:
- Experience contributing to transport planning projects for UK public sector or development sector clients within a consultancy or similar professional environment.
- Sound professional judgement, with the confidence to interpret policy, guidance and technical evidence.
- Experience undertaking research and analysis that informs people focused, sustainable transport outcomes.
- An ability to work constructively with clients and stakeholders to support the development and delivery of transport solutions.
- Relevant knowledge and skills to extract and analyse large data sets and present findings and insights, including through the use of advanced data mapping and visualisation techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the production of clear, high quality reports.
- A collaborative approach, including supporting and constructively reviewing the work of less experienced colleagues.
What you can expect from us:
- A competitive base salary reflecting your skills and experience.
- An attractive compensation package, including pension accrual through our own pension fund with an employer contribution of 7% and annual profit sharing.
- 25 vacation days (based on full-time employment), with the option to purchase an additional 10 days per year.
- Flexible working hours and a fully equipped home workspace.
- A wide range of training and development programmes, including tailored learning paths and various knowledge-sharing groups.
- A welcoming and open environment with voluntary social and sports activities.
- Private medical and dental cover, fully paid by the company.
