We are seeking a passionate and creative Teacher of English to join our dedicated team at Newhaven School, a specialist provision for students with additional needs. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a supportive, collaborative environment and wants to make a real difference in the lives of students. This role is not suitable for ECTs.

The post is situated at the Gardens site, which comprises the Pupil Referral Unit, the Assessment Centre and NEST. We also have the King’s Park site for students with a diagnosis of autism, an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and an enduring mental health condition.

The Role

  • Teach mixed‑ability classes, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Foster a love of literature and language, building meaningful relationships with students to help them succeed.
  • Plan and deliver dynamic lessons using a variety of media and resources to cater to a wide range of learning styles.
  • Design and create schemes of work which are bespoke and in line with the sometimes complex needs of our students.
  • Contribute to the development of our flexible curriculum and support students in achieving their potential.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share ideas, resources, and best practices in a supportive team environment.
