We are recruiting

We are recruiting for foster carers who are able to look after babies, teenagers, and sibling groups.

Fostering Friendly Employer

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is now a Fostering Friendly Employer, helping council staff balance foster caring and work responsibilities. The new Fostering Friendly policy allows for a more flexible working pattern to staff who are foster carers or are in the process of becoming one. They can now access up to five days extra paid leave for their fostering commitments, which can be used flexibly across their fostering journey.

Mockingbird Family Model

Royal Greenwich is one of the pioneering London boroughs to offer the Fostering Network's Mockingbird Family Model to its foster carers. This gives extra support to our carers and the children and young people they are looking after using an 'extended family model'. This improves stability of fostering placements and strengthens relationships between carers, those in their care, birth families, and social care professionals. This helps create a supportive community that empowers everyone.

Blue Light Card

Foster carers in the UK are eligible for a Blue Light Card, providing access to over 15,000 discounts online and on the high street for £4.99 for 2 years. It covers brands, restaurants, and days out, supporting household costs. Applications are made through the Blue Light Card website using official proof of fostering status.

We also run a Specialist Placement Scheme for foster carers who are passionate about supporting children and young people with more complex needs — offering an enhanced financial package alongside a comprehensive wraparound package of specialist support, so you can provide a nurturing, stable, and empathetic environment for some of our most vulnerable young people.
