The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 Β£ per year.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care for critically ill adults under the supervision of senior staff.

The post holder will develop specialist knowledge and competence in caring for critically ill adults by attending the introduction to intensive care course and working with mentors and clinical practice educators.

The post holder is expected to supervise and teach unqualified staff with the support and supervision of more senior team members.

To maintain a safe clinical environment conducive to patient care.

To carry out thorough handovers of critically ill patients using the SBAR handover tool.

To develop skills in analysing and interpreting complex data from patient monitoring and to plan appropriate care with supervision from senior staff.

To undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust policies and ensure adherence to these procedures and policies.

To communicate with patients and their significant others with empathy and reassurance regarding assessment, care, and treatment.

To maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records using appropriate documentation.

Liaise with the multidisciplinary team and the Critical Care Outreach team to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for patients being discharged to wards or referring hospitals.

Ensure the safe custody and administration of drugs according to The Royal Free NHS Trust Barnet’s policies, including intravenous medication and epidural analgesia.

All staff will receive adequate support, training, and supervision to ensure they have the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to carry out delegated care.

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote good communication and a collaborative approach to patient care.

Participate in the audit of the principles of the Essence of Care benchmarking process and implement action plans as required.

Participate in team projects and audits as needed.
