Duty Manager (Recreation Club/Gym) The Royal Free Charity is looking for an ambitious, motivated and talented duty manager to join their Recreation Club team. Role details Sala ry : £28,173 per annum (£14,791 per annum pro rata for part-time) Hours of work: 21 hours a week, not including breaks, over 3-4 days per week. The role requires flexibility to work early, late and weekend shifts. Base: Recreation Club, Fleet Road, NW3 2QG The role The duty manager will report to the club manager. Reporting to the club manager, you'll have the opportunity to combine duty manager responsibilities with Personal Training (PT), with no PT rental fees payable. You'll gain valuable management experience across the gym and wider facility, support member engagement, oversee health and safety, handle front-of-house administration, and help create a welcoming community environment where no two days are the same. The objectives of the post are: To work with the team to ensure smooth daily operations of the club To undertake oversight of Health & Safety, maintenance, and club standards To administer inductions, bookings, and general member services To assist with all group activities, classes, and club events as needed To support initiatives to improve the member experience To ensure all operational procedures are followed and risks are minimized Work four days per week, including early shifts (6:30 a.m.), late shifts (until 10:30 p.m.), and weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday). Person Specification Qualifications Qualification in Demonstrable Fitness and Personal Training Level 3 (desirable) First Aid / Defibrillator qualified (desirable) Qualification in Pool Responder / Pool Plant Operation (desirable) Experience Minimum 2 years’ previous experience working in the fitness industry Experience as a key holder, including opening and closing procedures Handling daily till operations and closing procedures Rota working Working with the general public Teaching fitness classes Ability to wear multiple hats (desirable) Sales and marketing experience (desirable) To have: o Database system user experience o Previous experience providing Personal Training and inductions o Previous experience working in a multicultural environment The team The Rec Club is responsible for providing a safe and welcoming environment for our gym users, along with facilitating external schools, groups, clubs and Royal Free outpatients/rehabilitation discharged patients for their health and fitness sessions in one of the many areas of the club. The club has 2 studios, a swimming pool, sports hall and fitness room, all of which are used daily by our members and the local community with a footfall of around 700 people per day.
