Intern – Vehicle Development
Full time – Leicestershire – Site based – Monday to Friday
The role:
To provide engineering support to the Vehicle Development team, supporting the development and working alongside an engineering mentor to develop high quality work and contribution to the team.
Responsibilities:
Under the support and supervision of a Senior/Project Engineer:
1. Design systems and components for new and updated Vehicle Development projects, considering function,
cost, manufacture, assembly and quality.
2. Produce good quality 3D CAD models using Pro-Engineer.
3. Produce good quality 2D engineering drawings.
4. Follow and help maintain design, operational and quality procedures.
5. Produce supporting documentation for designs, as required.
6. Design components and systems to comply with regulatory requirements & RE internal test procedures
where needed.
7. Liaise with internal departments such as, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality and Assembly.
8. Liaise with outside suppliers.
9. Manage their own time and workload effectively
10. Create and manage timing plans for their areas of responsibility.
11. To work with CAD Designers or contractors allocated to help with creating CAD models.
12. Support testing department with the fixturing & testing of components & motorcycles.
Experience/ Qualifications:
- 3 relevant A Levels A*-C grade or relevant college qualification.
- Currently undertaking a relevant degree program and predicted a 2:1 as a minimum.
- Currently at university studying a related degree with a placement year
- Engineering/ Automotive or Mechanical Engineer Degree
- Self-motivated and resilient. Flexible and adaptable approach.
- Able to take instruction and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, clear and concise written and verbal skills.
- Experience in Engineering Design Professional or personal interest in motorcycles, automotive, motorsport or mechanical engineering projects.
