About the Role

The Ilfracombe Community Rehabilitation Team work across a beautiful section of north Devon including coast and country. To travel throughout this area from Lynton to Braunton and beyond it is essential that the candidate is a car driver and has access to a car to use for work. Please can you tell us this on your application.

As a Community Occupational Therapist we work closely with patients to enable them to be active members of the community and we offer high quality care to support their needs. Our main objective as part of a community multidisciplinary team is to provide education and intervention to allow patients to have tools to self-manage. We work in partnership with our patients to set goals on what they want to be able to achieve. We work with people to avoid a hospital admission and we support discharges from hospital. Community Rehabilitation is varied and highly rewarding. You will hold and manage your own caseload. As a specialist clinician you will have the opportunity to mentor and supervise other clinicians, to reflect, to contribute towards your CPD portfolio and lead on student education.

The Royal Devon’s CARE objectives are at the heart of everything we do. Specifically in community therapy we demonstrate these by working in collaboration with our teams and colleagues to provide patient centred care, we are compassionate toward our patients and their families and loved ones and allow time for them to consider and engage in the intervention, and we work with integrity by being honest and open with the people we meet.

Hours and Working Pattern

A healthy work-life balance is essential, and Devon is a great place to enjoy it. As a holistic service we appreciate the importance of the physical and mental health of our team members. This Community Occupational Therapy role is for 26 hours per week, currently worked Monday to Friday. The post also includes additional on-call and weekend responsibilities to support acute services. As this post is not full time it is not eligible for sponsorship. The Community Rehabilitation Service is currently under review, with plans to develop into a 7-day service. This may result in changes to current working patterns.
