Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Nurse interested in sampling an exciting career in the specialty of Diabetes? If so we have the right job for you. The Royal Devon & Exeter Diabetes Nurse Team are looking to recruit a full-time permanent Diabetes Specialist Nurse for their team of highly enthusiastic and motivated professionals. Our service is dedicated to providing the highest quality Diabetes care to the population of Devon covered by our Eastern site.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical expertise to our patient group. You will display excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with integrated care partners as a member of a team as well as autonomously, following a thorough induction period. You will strive to promote a culture where care is safe, timely and well-coordinated for patients with diabetes.
About the Role
The role will primarily involve reviewing the care and management of patients with diabetes in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. There will be the opportunity to support the care of patients in sub-specialities within the service e.g. insulin pump therapy and diabetes in pregnancy. You will be able to lead patient education groups as your knowledge improves, and once trained, you will participate in offering patient support via the on-call service and My Care messaging daily. There will be an initial period of comprehensive training with the Diabetes Specialist Nurses based in Exeter who will nurture your skill development according to established competencies.
