An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Administrator/Medical Secretary Team Leader in the Paediatrics department based at Wonford on a fixed term contract until 31.07.2027. You will be leading a team of Service Administrators/Medical Secretaries, supporting a group of Consultants and Nurses. We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, motivated and adaptable person with an eye for attention to detail and accuracy to join our team in this busy department.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate ability in using their initiative, have excellent organisational, communication/interpersonal skills and IT skills, be professional and reliable with excellent customer service skills.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible to lead a team of established Service Administrators/Medical Secretaries, providing administrative and secretarial support for a team of Consultants and Nurses across Paediatrics. This is a varied and busy role that is vital to the smooth running of the department. We are looking for a friendly, organised person who will need to be able to demonstrate commitment and excellent communication skills.

Applicants will need to demonstrate that they can support a team to provide a professional, efficient and accurate service whilst maintaining their own workload. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and will need to be able to work independently on their own initiative as well as being a good team player. Leadership skills are vital to this role to ensure there is a cohesive working environment for the whole team; you will be expected to lead in 1 to 1’s, appraisals and team meetings, in a friendly and professional manner.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours Monday-Friday. This is an internal vacancy for Royal Devon employees, therefore Bank workers are currently not eligible to apply for this vacancy. This is a fixed term contract until 31/07/2027. For current NHS employees, this post could be a secondment opportunity.
