We are seeking a part time teacher to work 2 days a week as part of a job share alongside an outstanding teacher who is already established in post. This role is within our Semi-Formal Provision and is to deliver a Preparation for Adulthood curriculum. Interested in the role but require full time hours? Let us know and we’d be happy to consider.

We are looking to recruit a talented and energetic teaching professional to provide our students with the education they deserve. We provide specialist education and care for deaf young people across the United Kingdom. Our students range from 5 to 25 years old and have a range of additional needs. We operate a broad and enriched curriculum, tailored to student’s individual needs and supporting them towards their own version of independence. Each student is supported to achieve their learning potential as part of our multi-model learning environment.

We are very keen to hear from those with a background and expertise in SEND and who have the creativity and skill to create individual programmes that support students towards adulthood and the next phase of their lives. Prior experience of BSL is not essential but favoured.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and assess a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Plan and deliver a sequence of learning, to Post 16 and Post 19 students.
  • Contribute to maintaining our high standards within the Academy.
  • Plan, deliver and assess a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential through the delivery of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum including bespoke timetables where necessary.
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviours, which are expected of students.
  • Build good working relationships with the whole team including being able to identify opportunities for working with colleagues and sharing the development of effective practice with them.

Key requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Experience of planning and delivering successful teaching that improves outcomes for learners with additional needs.
  • Ability to form and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, colleagues, parents and other professionals.
  • Experience of providing effective support for learners with complex needs is desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within the Academy and other professionals.
  • Ability to use positive behaviour management strategies to ensure best outcomes for students.
