An opportunity has arisen to join our current screener to provide the school vision screening service across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The role involves testing the visual acuity of children aged 4-5 years in reception year at schools within the county.
Responsibilities:
- Hold a NVQ in Health and Social Care or Education and have experience working with children.
- Assess visual acuity of children aged 4–5 years in a primary school setting using a LogMAR visual acuity test.
- Travel to schools throughout Cornwall as required, maintaining a current full, clean driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
- Work within the orthoptic team of the ophthalmology service.
Qualifications:
- NVQ in Health and Social Care or Education.
- Some experience working with children.
Working Conditions:
This is a part‑time post of 20 hours per week, term time only, over four days. The post is based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, with travel to schools across Cornwall.
