Cornwall Health Library provides high-quality information services and resources to healthcare staff and students across Cornwall. Our main library, located in the Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site, offers an inclusive, welcoming space that supports learning, professional development, and wellbeing.

We are a friendly, professional, and supportive team, and we are seeking a new colleague—qualified in librarianship or with relevant experience—to help us continue delivering an outstanding service.

Main duties of the job

As Information Specialist, you will play a key role in:

  • Delivering a pro-active, responsive, and high-quality library service to staff and students of the University of Exeter Medical School.
  • Providing library inductions and teaching effective search skills to university staff and students.
  • Supporting wider NHS organisations and the University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery across Cornwall by retrieving high-quality evidence from a range of information sources to inform patient care, service improvement and research.

We are looking for a skilled, confident, compassionate, and forward-thinking individual to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop both your professional library expertise and your leadership skills, supported by an experienced and caring team. The post will be based in Cornwall Health Library on the Treliske site in Truro. The post commences from or after May 2026.

Person SpecificationQualifications
  • First degree in library/information studies or graduate with postgraduate qualification in library/information studies (or equivalent qualification) or equivalent experience at an appropriate level
  • Chartership of CILIP or equivalent
Experience
  • Experience in a relevant library or information science role
  • Literature searching
  • Experience of working in a relevant role in higher education or the NHS
  • Budget management
