Fundraising Officer in Truro

Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity raises, manages and distributes charitable funds to enhance patient care across Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. The Fundraising Officer plays a key role in developing and delivering fundraising activity across the Trust and wider community, acting as an important link between the charity, staff and local supporters.

The postholder will support a wide range of fundraising initiatives, which may include organising charity-led events, advising and motivating individual, group and staff fundraisers, and coordinating clear and consistent communication with supporters. The role can involve planning and delivering events, supporting participants to maximise their fundraising potential, and ensuring excellent stewardship to build positive long-term relationships with community, corporate and internal supporters.

The postholder will also promote fundraising activity, attend events across the county, coordinate photo and cheque presentations, and represent the charity professionally at all times. Strong communication skills, creativity and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment are essential. The role requires an organised, proactive and enthusiastic individual with the confidence to inspire others. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required due to community-based activity.

In this role, you will deliver and support a range of fundraising activities that help generate income for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity. You will plan and coordinate charity events, prepare resources and materials, and provide clear guidance to community, corporate and staff fundraisers. You will ensure supporters have what they need to fundraise safely and confidently, offering practical help and encouragement throughout their journey.

A key part of the job is managing ongoing communication with supporters, keeping records up to date, sending timely information, and ensuring every interaction feels positive and well-supported. You will also help organise and attend engagement activities such as cheque presentations, talks and photo opportunities, working closely with colleagues to promote fundraising across multiple channels. The role includes some travel across the county to meet supporters and represent the charity at events.

To excel, you will need strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise a busy workload, and confidence working with a wide range of people. You should be proactive, creative and comfortable managing multiple tasks at once. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and a positive, flexible approach are essential. The Fundraising Officer is responsible for delivering effective, well-planned fundraising activity that supports income growth for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity. The role involves coordinating a wide range of campaigns and events, contributing to planning, logistics and marketing, and ensuring activities run smoothly and safely. You will prepare event plans, develop supporter materials, and work with colleagues to promote opportunities through appropriate communication channels.

A major element of the role is supporter engagement. You will act as the primary contact for community, corporate and staff fundraisers, providing guidance on fundraising practice, offering encouragement, and ensuring supporters receive timely information and recognition. You will maintain accurate records, manage communication schedules and ensure donor stewardship processes are followed.

You will represent the charity at events across the county, including charity challenges, presentations and community meetings. This may involve occasional evening or weekend attendance. You will work closely with colleagues in the charity team and across the NHS Trust to support fundraising activity, strengthen relationships and ensure compliance with charity and fundraising regulations.

The role requires excellent organisation, the ability to manage multiple projects, strong interpersonal skills, and confidence working with diverse groups. A proactive, motivated approach and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications: Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience.

Experience: Previous experience working in a customer facing role with a varied workload, managing multiple priorities. Previous experience of organising events with a financial target. Previous experience working as a Fundraising Officer or similar role within a charity.

Practical and Intellectual Skills: Well organised and able to work as a member of a team. Good financial acumen to manage event budgets. Experience of public speaking to a wide range of audiences. A good working knowledge of charity regulations and best practice advice.

Disposition: Friendly, courteous and approachable. Willing to get involved with a range of fundraising activities and events. Willing to travel to attend fundraising events across the county and outside of the hospital sites.
